Apple’s Vision Pro Arrives Feb. 2: Here’s What It Comes With

    Apple's first mixed reality headset, vision pro, coming soon. Actually it's next month. Pre-orders for the $3,499 device, which comes with a headset, will begin on January 19th at 8 a.m. ET. Released on February 2nd In the United States.

    Apple was expected to release the Vision Pro much earlier in 2024, but the news came out of the blue – perhaps timed to overshadow the rest of the tech industry news from this week's CES – but just in time. That happened.

    Vision Pro is a fully iOS-enabled computer in the form of a VR headset, with the ability to blend the real world and virtual objects within the headset. You can read multiple hands-on experiences using Vision Pro on CNET. here, here and here.

    New details: What's included and how much storage?

    Apple has revealed some practical details about what's in the box when the device arrives next month. The $3,499 Vision Pro comes with 256GB of storage, but it's not clear what other tiers of storage will be available. Pricing and release date outside the US have also not yet been announced.

    There are also several types of head straps available, including “solo knit” and “dual loop” bands that fit different styles of heads. According to an Apple news release, the Vision Pro “comes with a solo knit band and a dual-loop band, giving users two options to achieve the best fit.” [The] Apple Vision Pro also includes a light seal, two light seal cushions, and an Apple Vision Pro cover for the front of your device. [a] Polishing cloth, battery, USB-C charging cable, and USB-C power adapter.

    Zeiss prescription lenses are available at an additional charge

    Glasses wearers will need prescription lenses for the Vision Pro from Zeiss. Reader inserts cost $99 and prescription lenses cost $149. However, it's not yet clear how buyers will create a prescription and whether the process will be similar to how other VR lens prescriptions work.

    App at startup? Still unknown

    Apple outlined Vision Pro-optimized experiences, including spatial video and photography, 3D movies, a mixed reality version of FaceTime, and an immersive experience called Encounter Dinosaurs. Not much has been announced other than promising support for all iOS apps and Mac-connected features. Hopefully we'll know more closer to launch…which isn't far away.
