A Colombian court recently hosted its first legal trial in the Metaverse, and a court magistrate said it “felt more real than a video call,” according to a recent report.
according to Colombia’s Magdalena Administrative Court filed a lawsuit involving participants in a traffic dispute in the Metaverse on February 15, according to a Reuters report published on February 24.
The case lasted two hours, was filed against the police by the local transport union, and will proceed “partially” in the Metaverse. Verdicts can also be made in the metaverse.
Participants appeared as avatars in a virtual courtroom, with Magistrate Maria Quinones Triana wearing a black robe.
Colombia was noted to be one of the first countries in the world to test legal proceedings in the Metaverse, and Quinones told Reuters it felt “more real than a video call.”
