The digital world is forever expanding, traveling as far as human imagination can go. It is a place where one's wildest dreams come true and possibilities are endless.

However, living in this digital world is not a new concept. His theory and vision date back to the early 80's. Few people will remember the 1982 movie Tron and his 2010 sequel. But this film is perhaps the pinnacle of imagination in a digital world where life has taken on new forms.

“Tron, the gateway to the digital frontier. We stand on the precipice, but we can no longer ignore the potential of fusing artificial intelligence programming with increasingly complex human interactions.” The main character, Kevin Flynn, lives in a digital space where people can live lives different from reality.

If we look at 2023, such a place, the Metaverse, really does exist. It's been just two years since the pledge was made for a digital realm that guaranteed our ability to, as Mark Zuckerberg put it, “express ourselves in new, fun, and fully immersive ways.” It's hard to understand what you did. ”

    The promises were endless.

Inside the Metaverse, a neurosurgeon based in Scotland could perform surgery on patients in New Zealand, while friends could gather in a virtual space station, a luxurious alpine retreat, and an enchanted forest. .

The Metaverse is a revolutionary concept that has the potential to revolutionize our familiar world. Its applications are limitless and cover many aspects of life such as healthcare, employment, and commerce.

But the key word here is that this universe is a concept, and therefore we are still far from the perfect digital world we are used to seeing in movies.

Since its debut, this vision has gradually become less technically appealing. The promised dynamic virtual bodies were realized as stiff cartoon avatars, and Oculus headsets proved unwieldy. Given that the physical world is still made up of doors and walls, the most avid users often encountered them.

But the commitment to that potential is alive and well, and technological progress seems to be accelerating.

The Metaverse as a Journey: Zuckerberg's Perspective

At Meta's Connect event last September, Zuckerberg said the Metaverse was more of a journey than a final destination, and that it was already underway.

Emphasizing that our current world is “meta” in nature, he points to the convergence of the physical and digital worlds, and points out that the boundaries between these realms are gradually dissolving and that we are “meta” in nature. I predicted that it would become something called the “Metaverse.”

This is a realm where screens transform into headsets, tangible objects slowly incorporate interactive holograms, and the mundane world we live in transforms into something wonderful, almost imperceptibly.

One of the most appealing features of the Metaverse is the possibility of escaping the digital-physical divide mediated by screens and once again having a more integrated connection with “reality.”

But there's more to the Metaverse than just an escape from reality as we know it. It is a horizon that we still need to explore and understand to make the most of it. And with the pace of technology advancement, those days of glory may not be far away.

AR and VR in the formation of the metaverse

The key role of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) is the most thrilling feature in the metaverse. These technologies are essential to virtual worlds and provide an immersive environment for participants.

The virtual nature of the Metaverse necessitates the use of AR and VR to create a sense of immersion and engagement.

The demand for more immersive and interactive experiences will drive the continued advancement and widespread adoption of these technologies in the dynamic environment of the Metaverse.

    Rebuild life and society

The Metaverse can change lives and completely rebuild society.

First, this universe will make society cashless. If the Metaverse becomes dominant, wages could be paid in cryptocurrencies. This is because Metaverse is centered around the concept of trading digital assets within a virtual realm. Each individual will own a digital passport containing their assets, similar to an NFT, and participation will require cryptocurrency.

When the pandemic brought major changes to our individual and teamwork dynamics, remote work gained widespread acceptance and is now a permanent fixture. The Metaverse is once again revolutionizing remote work and changing the way teams collaborate.

In this virtual realm, teams operate within a shared space and interact through virtual avatars. There is even potential for groundbreaking augmented reality technology to facilitate collaboration in a more immersive way.

Metaverse and other AI technologies have the ability to transform the global learning experience by eliminating physical barriers. Regardless of their geographic location, students can participate in an immersive learning experience.

These include virtual classrooms, participation in virtual campus activities, participating in laboratory activities and conducting experiments as if students were physically present in the laboratory, and working directly with eminent figures from various fields. This can be done by working together.

In essence, the Metaverse is poised to bring major changes to our accustomed way of life. We can expect to gradually move into the realm of virtual reality, an experience that has the potential to be both fun and disturbing.
