Hadeen has announced the appointment of former Amazon executive Royal O’Brien as its new chief technology officer. The company uses spatial computing to develop the tools and technologies needed to build Metaverse experiences such as video games and virtual military training programs.
The announcement comes just 11 months after securing a $30 million Series A round led by Molten Ventures with participation from Epic Games, 2050 Capital, Alumni Ventures, Aster Capital, Entrepreneur First and InQTel.
The company has signed multiple partnerships over the past two years, including multi-year deals with Minecraft, Pixelynx, Sony and Gamescoin.
Mr. O’Brien brings a wealth of gaming and technology experience after spending four years as Head of Games and 3D at Amazon. Previously he worked for The Linux Foundation, where Digital oversaw the Media and Games division.
“Throughout my career, I have been committed to shaping tomorrow’s future by removing the limits of scale and potential, and driving new levels of creativity and speed.”
“Hadean’s technology is enabling this change in the most powerful way, and we will work together to change the future of how we collectively experience the world,” he added.
Meanwhile, Hadean CEO Craig Bedis said: commented: “Royal is one of the pioneers and driving force of an open and interoperable metaverse, realizing his vision that a true metaverse should be a perfect match for our metaverse. He’s been a great addition to our team in shaping how Hadean continues to bridge the gap between the physical and virtual worlds in ways that are supportive, meaningful and valuable to all. He will contribute.”
Earlier this year, Hadean and the Connected Places Catapult partnered with UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) to develop a digital twin of UK motorways to assess how the e-Highway will impact traffic flow. Awarded an Innovate UK Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) grant.
