The lost conversation between the academic and corporate learning communities

Consider this quote from one of the greats:

This instrument can be taught and illuminated. Yes, even that can inspire. But it can only do so if humans decide to use it for those purposes. Fighting ignorance, intolerance and indifference will probably take a big, decisive battle.of this weapon tv set It might help.-Edward R. Murrow

There was a time when the value of television was controversial. It invaded our living rooms and allowed celebrity heroes and their sponsors to reframe our worldview. It was a strange device. Just as Vietnam’s atrocities spilled through a hazy window, so did Archie Bunker, The Golden Girls, and eventually reality TV. We carefully coordinate our messages with advertisers who have paid for us. What television did or didn’t do to society, not the subject of this article, is to add context to the next potential intruder, the Metaverse, that influence and how it was formed.

The Metaverse presents opportunities like never before. We have the power to create action-based, empowered environments where learners can practice, get real-time feedback, travel to unseen worlds, and talk to their heroes. Differentiate at the touch of a key and meet where every learner learns best.

In the process of building a metaverse of learning, business and education leaders must be natural thought partners. Ultimately, the basic point of opportunity is the same when looking at issues that affect success, retention, culture, and overall day-to-day processes. Our collective metaverse should be rich with case studies, research, best practices and shared practices.

But somehow we seem reluctant to go around the corner and get involved. In essence, doing the work and learning that people do, while doing the right thing for the right people that can influence the creation of virtual worlds that advance the goals of both education and training agendas What do we have to do to get it to talk about? Better.

    So what is the metaverse?

Think of the Metaverse as a blank slate that stretches to infinity. With this paper, I start writing my story and inviting people to participate. As they read mine, they add their own stories, establishing a culture of shared understanding and expertise. We started making pictures and characters to illuminate our stories and now we have stories that interact with each other. We build this trading space where meaning is shaped, illustrated, redefined and rehearsed. we”A dynamic and transparent zone whose means are functions of culture. You need to bring yourself into each equation and make sense as you go.

Thinking about the Metaverse in this way loosens the definition from the necessary virtual reality headsets and game thinking and lets you think freely about what it means. Of course, games and VR are both viable components of worldbuilding and the ones that make the most sense. The key is authentic and meaningful collaboration and growth that can be measured both inside and outside the digital space.

Consider the basic tenets of the current definition of the metaverse.

    • Matthew Ball suggests that the metaverse is experienced in real time, but relies on persistence. Basically, anything that happens in the metaverse stays in the metaverse consistently. Users are unlimited, as is data and history continuity.
    • Gwo-Jen Hwang and Shu-Yun Chien Add that it’s shared and decentralized. Decentralization will be a key factor in creating that shared conversation.Remember: no one should Own metaverse.
    • curl cup It further defines physical elements as 3-D, virtual, and states that the metaverse can be a proxy for physical or fantasy space. there is no limit. At its core is the environment. The world builder inside me has to say WOWIE!
    • Then there’s “it is all things.” by Destery Hildenbrand (2023).

Let’s go back to paper. It defines the look, feel and space of paper. we invite the world Provide shared elements and track behavior. We learn from what we do and “level up” as we go. It’s democratized, it’s for everyone, it’s a truly interactive space. Oh yeah, you can always use it in real life. You can practice safely in the metaverse so you can practice in the real world.

    why us, why now

Let’s put this in the context of worldbuilding and outline why each partner is important. They outline the theory and practical implications that align our new world with learners. They know why we choose tools, how to define “good stuff” and why it makes sense. You need them to be firmly rooted in your day-to-day work. You need to get them to argue back and tell you why it doesn’t work. We need their passions, their issues and their perspectives. It is also necessary to outline the learner lifecycle.

Next is the L&D side of the company. L&D partners must share tools. They need to show learners how to connect with what they are doing and how we can fit in with the real world. Must own. It should also demonstrate practicality. How do you get buy-in from the business? How can you connect your community with your marketing, resources, and day-to-day operations? You have to own the end result and the lifecycle of your employees.

Now that these roles are in place, it’s essential to start talking now. Unlike the Internet, which has democratized learning from Wikipedia to YouTube, the Metaverse’s corporate vision threatens to commercialize it. We need to ensure that “it” remains “there” where all learners can connect. We need to address access issues and build a true pipeline that advances user experience, cultural interpretation, and freedom. We have no choice but to do it together. Clearly, corporate purchasing power needs to merge with academic know-how to start solving problems in another realm.

    where do i start?

Start the conversation by finding common ground. What are the common pain points?

For example, employee retention is on both sides of the fence. We both need to chart development and define what is good. Perhaps you also need to develop just-in-time training and instruction, agreeing that your business/district site understands how to implement, evaluate, and coordinate what is important.

Working together not only allows us to see common ground, but allows us to build this continuous pipeline that takes learners from kindergarten to the boardroom to the floor to the field. We can create an individualized approach that not only leaves children behind, but also provides clear developmental pathways that we often forget.Opening up space for real feedback and real success. However, standard onboarding can be incorporated into the “choose your adventure” mentality.

    how long now?

When viewers first peered into television, it was impossible to imagine how the new medium would change the way we interact, creating culture and value. I was. The metaverse can be a limitless tool for growth or just another commercial space to buy identities. Think about how our culture would change if television was shaped by educators and L&D experts instead of commercial sponsors. Now let’s take this opportunity to change the subject.

    It’s time to speak.
