Universal Studios, The Metaverse, And The Future Of Theme Parks

    Published on:

Universal Studios theme parks are constantly evolving to keep pace with changing technology. One of the most exciting recent developments is the integration of Metaverse technology into Universal’s attractions.

The Metaverse promises to merge the digital and virtual worlds. Theme parks like Universal use a combination of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) to create magical experiences for guests.

Find out how Universal Studios is entering the metaverse and what its newest attractions mean for the future of theme parks.

Mario Kart will be treated as a metaverse

One of the most popular rides at Universal Studios Japan is Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. This ride takes place inside a replica of Bowser’s Castle. At the entrance to the ride, you can wear Mario’s iconic red hat and an augmented reality headset attached to his hat.

Then experience a physical vehicle fused with digital elements. For example, you can see and shoot targets through an AR headset, and even compete with other guests while playing games.

    King Kong Roar in 3D

King Kong: 360 3D Experience is an attraction included in the Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood.

This ride takes you on an immersive journey through Skull Island, recreated from Peter Jackson’s 2005 film, King Kong. Every guest wears his 3D glasses to see the action in a realistic and engaging way.

The attraction begins with a pre-show experience in which visitors are introduced to King Kong’s backstory and characters. Visitors then board a tram for a journey through a simulated jungle environment.

As the tram progresses, visitors encounter various obstacles, including a herd of dinosaurs, a battle between King Kong and a giant serpent, and an eventual confrontation between King Kong and a group of attacking helicopters. The 3D projection technology used in the attraction creates a highly immersive experience that puts visitors right in the middle of the action.

This attraction is also notable for its use of sound and special effects, such as you can really feel the wind and water elements, which adds to the overall experience.

    Immersive missions with Jason Bourne

Orlando’s Universal Studios also has a new theater experience, The Bourne Stuntacular. The experience is based on Bourne’s action films and demonstrates the potential of the future of theater.

During the live show, guests witness a series of stunts and fight scenes performed by a cast of performers. Action includes high-speed chase scenes, martial arts battles, and even a daring rooftop escape. Live shows are supported by high tech special effects such as projection screens, fireworks and other theatrical effects.

The Bourne Stuntacular is a great example of how theme park attractions incorporate cutting-edge technology and live entertainment to create an immersive experience like no other.

A glimpse into the future of theme parks

The way Universal has integrated Metaverse technology has the potential to completely transform theme parks around the world.

As technology continues to advance, theme park designers will create even more innovative and immersive travel and recreational experiences.
