WhatsApp rolling out new updates for ‘communities’ on iOS, Android

San Francisco: To make it more user-friendly, Meta-owned WhatsApp rolled out a new update to its community feature by introducing some changes to the interface of “Announcement Groups” for iOS and Android users.

According to WAbetaInfo, the company renamed the announcement group to “Home” in the WhatsApp for Android beta, and changed the new name to “Updates” in the WhatsApp for iOS beta.

WhatsApp’s community feature allows users to create and join groups of people who share similar interests and hobbies.

This renaming may have been decided because, according to reports, announcement groups are typically read-only conversations only accessible by community admins and may not fit the traditional definition of a group.

WhatsApp has also moved the community icon from the bottom bar to the chat header to improve the user interface and maintain consistency with other chats.

Additionally, the latest WhatsApp Communities updates for iOS and Android provide community admins with a more bug-free experience when posting messages to their communities.

A new WhatsApp Communities update is now available for some users who have installed the latest version of WhatsApp Beta for iOS and Android. It will also be available to more people in the coming days, the report said.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a redesigned chat attachment menu for the Android beta.

The tweaked chat attachment menu is now clearer and provides a more user-friendly experience.
